12 Days of Brilliant Holiday Marketing Campaigns - DAY 10

1970s Christmas Hilltop - Coca Cola.

Perhaps one of the most beloved commercials of all time, Coke's iconic 1971 "Hilltop" ad has now been digitally remastered for 4K TV. Filmed in Italy, the spot celebrates the diversity of cultures from all over the globe showing people coming together to sing a song of unity.

The Christmas version looks much fuzzier than the remastered version, which rivals the footage Matthew Weiner used in the Mad Men finale, when Don Draper had an existential breakthrough at a commune and went on to creative direct the spot at McCann...

The original commercial ended with the statement:

"On a hilltop in Italy, we assembled young people from all over the world to bring you the message from Coca-Cola bottlers all over the world. It's the real thing. Coke."

Peace, love, and advertising.
